Herjevatnet

A good walk in all kinds of weather. A walk for children and grandparents. A walk for prams, wheelchairs and bikes. Coffee from a kettle and toasting ‘stick bread’ on a campfire are guaranteed a great experience!

Google maps road directions: here

Follow the Fv 64 road from Åndalsnes towards Molde. Turn right up to Nysetra (close to the 60-km zone) after around 26 km. Take the toll road up and park at the car park at Nysetra.

From Nysetra, the walk starts along the car road. Just before you get to the end of the car road, turn left onto the path that winds its way gently down to the lake. After an easy walk in beautiful surroundings, you arrive at the lake. Teppinga, as we call it, is the mouth of Herjevatnet lake. Teppinga was used to regulate the water level in the river in the olden days. There is a bridge over the river here. You can enjoy the view and tranquillity from the lean-to shelter.

There are fishing opportunities at Teppinga, and float and fly fishing are good options here. There is a stone hearth and a campfire pan which are great for making coffee or sausages. Sandnes og Holm utmarkslag have a large boathouse nearby. It houses two boats used for net fishing.
